Yes, I agree. A road fork would be better than a track fork and will give you room for fenders and bigger tires if you want.

If you know your old angles, which is usually easy to find from the vendor, you can figure our your new head tube angle. You can also guess! But there is also a formula: [change in head angle] = arcsin [(old length - new length)/(wheel base)]
