I'm an experienced bike commuter and touring cyclist. I have passions for folding bikes, drawing and painting, and playing my guitars. I'm often seen hauling groceries with or taking photos from my bike. I'm also a musician, and my band also has released a couple of albums.

@freiheit, @M. Converse: Yes, I agree, this should be community wiki.

I've had a similar problem, I'd like to know the answer as well.

comment Plastic taste in my backpack water bladder
@Paul: Same here, people use "Camelbak" to mean a bladder, I just want to avoid it in tags. If it becomes an issue, we'll discuss in meta. (Yeah, it's spelled without a C.)

Burley replied to me with this CYA email: "We have not tested the Nomad to accommodate wider tires so we cannot guarantee structural integrity or safety with any modifications."

Retagged: Removed "camelback" tag, this isn't a camelbak bladder, added "hydration" tag.

comment Wald basket legs too short for cruiser — how can I install the basket?
@Dustin: I was able to find appropriately-sized hose clamps. What do I screw the legs onto? The screw on a hose clamp (at least these) doesn't come out. I'd need the midblade fork adapter in your link to make this work.

@freiheit, @pshr, re: off-topic: I disagree. Something doesn't have to be unique to cycling to count. Wicking clothing, stretching vs. warming up, hydration: these are all common issues to many activities.

comment Recommendations for transporting twins on the front of a bike
@Kevin: If a new bike is in the cards, you might also consider testing out a dutch cargo bike or tricycle, with two kid seats in a large cargo box. I suspect that this is the best of both worlds: The room of a small trailer, the kids on the bike where you can see them.

comment Recommendations for transporting twins on the front of a bike
@Kevin: Bike seats have the advantage of visibility, but a kiddie trailer has the advantage that, if the bike goes down on its side, the trailer doesn't necessarily go with it. I don't have kids, but I do have a cargo trailer, and cars pass me with more room when I pull it. Perhaps drivers think there are kids inside?

comment Glued grip has rotated, won't rotate back
@Tadeusz: If I had the money, I'd do the same. Alas, this is what came with the bike. If I replaced these, I'd replace them with bolt-on grips.

comment Wald basket legs too short for cruiser — how can I install the basket?
@Dustin: Oh, hose clamps. I used to use those to attach a flashlight to my handlebars. They look like they could potentially crush the aluminum fork on this bike. Or am I being paranoid?

comment Wald basket legs too short for cruiser — how can I install the basket?
@M. Converse: Thanks, but that's not the problem. The problem is that the "extra" hole on the bottom (the one for the braze-on) is a foot and a half away from the hole on the top. This is a loooong piece of metal!

I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag I use when I need my Netbook, and I can verify that it's well built.

comment How do I know when to replace my tires?
I use Kojak smooth tires on my Bike Friday, and they're the best road tires I've ever had. (Although gravel is out of the question with smooth tires.) The thing is, there's a difference between smooth tires and bald tires: one is designed to be smooth, the other is not. I'd replace your tires, as per the conditions in freiheit's answer.
