I'm an experienced bike commuter and touring cyclist. I have passions for folding bikes, drawing and painting, and playing my guitars. I'm often seen hauling groceries with or taking photos from my bike. I'm also a musician, and my band also has released a couple of albums.

comment How to minimize wear on pants
For very short rides, I ride in jeans or cotton pants or whatever I have on. For anything longer than a mile or so, I change into cycling shorts.

comment How can I develop my abs while I ride my bicycle?
Sheldon was right about this: If you have to stand to pedal, then there's a problem. But if a cyclist just plain wants to stand to pedal (I enjoy it from time to time), then that's another matter.

comment Techniques for minimising injury when falling or crashing?
@ChrisH - I try to keep a light grip on the bars, easy to do when you're holding them from the side. It lets you "walk" from brake to shifter, using your fingertips to keep contact with the bars. I'm guessing that you're using drop bars, though, and I don't know if that's doable there. My only bike with barend shifters uses H bars, and the brake levers and shifters are fairly close to each other. If this is a serious problem for you, you may want to look into getting brifters, which integrate the brake lever and shifter.

Not many bikes these days have a built-in acoustic guitar. This is quite the find!

comment What size are the screws used for water bottle mounts etc?
@CareyGregory - Hardware stores by me only stock one thread size, so I've never had to worry about that. Nevertheless, have edited my answer.
