I'm an experienced bike commuter and touring cyclist. I have passions for folding bikes, drawing and painting, and playing my guitars. I'm often seen hauling groceries with or taking photos from my bike. I'm also a musician, and my band also has released a couple of albums.

You can follow me on Twitter @neilfein.

How to lubricate noisy joint on Dahon foldable bike? Did you bring your bike to shops that are familiar with Dahons? I ask because I've found that many shops not familiar with folding bikes will misdiagnose problems. |

Long Distance Navigation This still isn't really answerable as it stands; the answers it's producing are showing that this is a discussion, not a question. Have voted to close, but I think that it could still be edited to be more specific. What are your preferences in terms of how you read a map? Will you have ready access to power? What is your budget? Do you have any map-reading experience? etc. |

What is the proper technique for crossing railroad tracks? +1 from me as well. A guy I was riding with broke a few ribs riding across wet train tracks. And crossing any tracks at as close to a 90 degree angle as you can manage is always safest. |

How do I estimate how long it will take me to ride my commute? My close vote and previous comment both apply to the pre-edit version of this question. (The close vote will expire in time.) Tim, as per a discussion in chat, we tried to improve this question while not making the existing answers irrelevant. Did we preserve the intent of your original question? |

How do I estimate how long it will take me to ride my commute? This question about estimating the length of a tour - this answer in particular, may help. But as it is, this question isn't really answerable. How long it "should" take you depends on too many things. Are you concerned with getting to work sweaty? Are there hills? A lot of traffic lights? |
