What bike+equipment for a long daily urban commute? @ChrisW Clipless pedals have a bit of a learning curve, so you will definitely want to practice for a week or two. You will almost definitely fall over at least once (everyone does), which you don't want to do when you're on your way to work. I would wait on it if at all possible (practice your route with regular pedals first to test the water). |

How should I clean salt out during Winters? @HH01 By "hot wax" I mean paraffin wax (the stuff that candles are made of). You heat up the wax and then dip the chain in it. Wax is supposed to be very good at repelling dirt, but from what I read, it's not a very good lubricant. So it may last longer, but oil will make the chain run more easily. |

Name for the thing attached to spokes to remove tires? "SOL" means "Sh*t Out of Luck", as in you are in a very bad situation. |

Is there a recycling program that accepts unrepairable inner tubes? I don't know of any recycling programs, but I often re-use "dead" tubes for padding on my car's bike rack. (Cut a slit in the tube lengthwise, chop off the valve, and wrap it on the rack like handlebar tape.) |

How do you decide your route to commute to work? What kind of traffic do these roads see? How many lanes in each? |
