On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

NOTE: The only way to be nominated is by nominating yourself. The way you do that is by clicking the "Nominate yourself as a Candidate" link below and then answering the questionnaire on Meta.

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

To date I have focused my bicycles.se effort on answering what I felt were out-there or interesting questions where I could bring a unique perspective. I also spent my efforts adding fact-checking type comments, or comments with hints to aspects I felt an answer hadn't been fully addressed.

To date however I haven't provide much moderation input beyond flagging, as I didn't feel that was my place or interest in the community.

I feel it is time to change that, and like most things in life I like to jump on with both feet...

I'm volunteering to stand in this election, to help move the process forward.

Over time I've tried a lot of different bike riding styles and locations, from all-day endurance rides to road and MTB racing, as well as tandems, recumbents and scooters. I've learned a lot from the site over time, both in a tangible sense as well as improving my interactions with new users.

To be honest, I won't be heartbroken should you vote for someone else; leaves me more time for riding!

Hi there,

I'm a security professional in my day job, but also have been a member and moderator of various Stack Exchange sites for the last 7 years or so. I have a fairly wide range of interests across Stack Exchange, but first and foremost I believe in fairly supporting communities.

While I only have 3k rep here, my moderator experience is probably of greater value - on all the sites I mod, there are people who know the subject amazingly well and I don't expect to be smarter than them. I just expect to be able to help respond to flags, keep things running smoothly, and add my experience to help grow Bicycles.SE
