Sep 24, 2015 at 23:15 comment added Scott Hillson Yeah, bike fit can get complex very fast. Sometimes it's worth it to pay a professional ~100 dollars to tell you what you need.
Sep 24, 2015 at 22:52 comment added Rider_X @hillsons - agreed, but if it doesn't fix the problem it can cause more confusion especially if it introduces new problems
Sep 24, 2015 at 21:50 comment added Scott Hillson If he switches his setup and his discomfort goes away that's a pretty definitive diagnosis.
Sep 24, 2015 at 21:22 comment added Rider_X @khernik - switching a setup makes it difficult to diagnose the original problem.
Sep 24, 2015 at 21:12 comment added khernik I also updated my post to add a photo of my bike. Today I switched the saddle from my trekking bike, moved it a bit forward, and added those long handlebars on the middle.
Sep 24, 2015 at 21:09 comment added khernik I posted a comment in my post about what bike it is.
Sep 24, 2015 at 21:09 comment added khernik It does "fit" me, I mean I am pretty comfortable on it. But it's a road bike, and thus I have different position than on a trekking bike, and it creates a pain in my back and shoulders.

Sep 24, 2015 at 20:35 comment added Scott Hillson Yeah, I didn't mention it here, but I think fit is a given. If a bike doesn't fit you properly, it doesn't matter what else you do to it, you're not going to be comfortable if it doesn't fit you.
Sep 24, 2015 at 20:30 comment added Rider_X What about overall fit? Fit (IMHO) is critical to long distance riding. I have one frame that no matter what components I have I cannot get it into my endurance fit window. It will always be uncomfortable for longer rides.
