Nov 20, 2015 at 14:44 comment added Wayne Werner Depending on the area it's also a really good idea to take your seat with you as well - especially if it has a quick release. It's surprisingly easy to steal a bike. I couldn't find the one I was looking for - using multiple tries and methods a guy "stole" his own bike, even once being stopped by officers who wished him good luck after he said it was his own bike. Hack saws, bolt cutters, and even vise grips.

Nov 19, 2015 at 18:29 comment added Jekowl Any sentence that starts with "i just thought that we lived in a world where a man " is defiantly going to have comedy value, regardless of its intentions.

Nov 19, 2015 at 11:28 comment added PeteH @FarmAmerica - try and see the positives - you got an invaluable lesson in human nature, and all it cost you was some stupid bike lights
Nov 19, 2015 at 10:22 comment added paparazzo @FarmAmerica You just had your lights stolen and think you live in a world where lights are not stolen?
Nov 19, 2015 at 1:03 comment added Móż I've had someone spend some time with tools removing my butterfly bars and hard-to-find shifters. That was both annoying and expensive (luckily I had a friend there who could put my bike in their car so I didn't have to walk home). Stuff that pulls off in seconds with bare hands is incredibly likely to be stolen.

Nov 19, 2015 at 0:54 comment added nhinkle @EvanWarren to the contrary, anything which can be easily stolen from a bike will be stolen in many areas. Sure, some towns are safe enough that you might not need to worry. But considering that nice bike lights can cost upwards of $100, it's not really that surprising. You wouldn't leave a $100 bill taped to your seat and expect it to still be there when you got back. It's sad, but it's the unfortunate reality.
