Dec 18, 2019 at 0:36 comment added Michael Hampton I run 700x38 on my touring bike; it will accept up to 45mm tire width. It's also quite stable carrying 125kg rider and load while descending at 60kph (the fastest I've ever gone with it) with a strong crosswind. But fully loaded, you should expect to spend most of the time at 15-25kph. Great for looking at the scenery while you ride around the world on a variety of road surfaces, or even bringing home the groceries. The most well known examples of touring bikes are the Trek 520 and the Surly Long Haul Trucker.
