Dec 8, 2021 at 12:27 | comment | added | nightrider | The chain obviously will not last longer, how else it could be. Only cassette.
Dec 8, 2021 at 10:24 | comment | added | EarlGrey | The cassette will last longer, but what about the worn chain running on the new cog?

Dec 7, 2021 at 15:08 | comment | added | EvilSnack | It would be easier to set the limit screws so that the derailleur can't be shifted.
Dec 7, 2021 at 13:58 | comment | added | anjama | ^ Years ago, I used one of Surly's splined cogs along with some spacers and their Singleator chain tensioner to convert an old used mountain bike into a low maintenance single-speed commuter.

Dec 7, 2021 at 7:19 | comment | added | Lamar Latrell | Don't get 9 seperate cassete cogs, get some spacers and a single hyperglide splined cog like those offered but Surly. Alternatively, it sounds like a fun experiment if you can access the cogs for cheap. Just try it, see if all the naysayers below hold any currency 😆
