One thing that does appear to be true is that the more forcefully it's shifted, the more bending force the pivot axle has to resist. The bigger picture story is that the world is still adapting to Shimano's 11-speed front derailleurs and a lot of them do get set up wrong in a way that might lead to riders putting more force through the STI. Add to that the cable friction problems that are common on recent road bikes and I wouldn't be surprised if those factors are the main problem. It could also be a COVID-era heat treatment issue on the piece that bends.
